A two-wheeled vehicle – especially the scooter – is the number one transport choice in Thailand, or maybe even Southeast Asia in general. You’ll cross them everywhere in this part of the world with up to five or even six passengers on it. It’s the easiest way to get around, especially on an island like Koh Samui. As mentioned earlier, we rented a scooter of our own and besides driving around looking for the best food in town we also took a tour around the island. Our first stop was the ‘Golden Buddha Temple’, a twelve-metre seated Buddha statue. It’s one of the most popular touristic attractions, which can be seen at a distance of several kilometres. After that we grabbed some lunch at ‘Fisherman’s Village’ in Bophut, another beach village on the northeastern side of Samui. The rest of the day we spotted the most beautiful coastlines and beaches and ended this tour with sunset drinks at Silver Beach.
