Before we head off to our new place (we’ve
found an apartment in Santa Monica, so exciting!) I want to show you an
impression of the neighbourhood where we stayed for the last couple of days.
The greater area is called Westwood, but especially Westwood Village – which
was nearby our hotel – is what attracted me the most. It really is a village
within the city, with a lot of different architectural styles, stores, many
cute little restaurants, bakeries and coffee places. It even has an authentic
movie theatre with only two cinemas on facing corners. Because UCLA (University
of California Los Angeles) is adjacent to Westwood Village there are many
students walking around, which fills the streets with a really great vibe.
After the rush we felt during our stays in previous cities (Bangkok and Hong
Kong), the tranquillity that this neighbourhood has to offer is just so very
welcome.
A little note for people visiting Westwood Village during breakfast or lunch time: go to Corner Bakery Cafe on Westwood Blvd. Their sandwiches – and especially the sourdough Panini's – are delicious!
